Soulful Fine Art Portrait Series of Kids

Our kids are so used to smile for the camera, perform a certain emotion, try hard to please us. Through those pictures, we rarely get to see and enjoy their true selves.

For this series, I wanted to do something very different. The focus is on their eyes, their face and something deeper within them.

The session is guided, but in a very relaxed way so the child can just be themselves, without any pressure to smile or act a certain way.

I’m paying attention to who they are, their expression, their presence, the way they look when they’re not doing anything in particular, just being.

That’s what Future Icons is about — not something they need to become, but who they already are when they’re just themselves, authentic and real.

the experience

The sessions take place in my studio in Midtown Manhattan.

They are quiet and unhurried, with space for the child to settle and feel at ease. Nothing is rushed. We allow time for those moments to come through naturally.

INSIDE future icons

For this series, I keep things focused.

A relaxed portrait session.

An 11x14 fine art print.

These portraits become a way to hold onto something more real, to who they are at this moment in time — a deeply meaningful piece of art for the family and the child to cherish.

About Iryna

Iryna Sosnovska is a New York–based fine art portrait photographer with over twenty years of experience working with families and children.

Her approach to portraiture is personal and art-driven. She believes photography can hold both beauty and depth, and that a portrait can show more than just how someone looks.

In her work with children, she keeps the process simple and guided without pressure. This allows the child to relax and be themselves, so their natural expression and character come through.

Through Future Icons, she creates portraits that feel real and timeless and reflect a child as they are, and preserve that moment in a meaningful way.
