sell more wall art & albums
MASTERLASS
What I’LL BE SHARING:
Why clients want printed products and are willing to invest in it.
How I’ve sold hundreds of pieces of wall art and albums at premium prices across different genres of portrait photography - family, couples, women (through my 40 Over 40 campaign), branding and dogs.
How I went from charging a few $$ hundreds per session (digital files, dozens of pictures) to charging premium prices (and selling just a few portraits) before I was “ready“ and the success it brought to my business.
How I charged premium and sold wall art and albums before I had my own physical studio.
How I changed the way I was doing photo sessions to shoot specifically for wall art and albums/prints.
Who are really these “premium clients“ who invest in artwork.
Where I find my clients and how I make clients find me and choose me in the ocean of choices.
What ups and downs I’ve had along the way. And what helps me keep going when it gets challenging. And yes, it still does!

about me:
Hi, I’m Iryna Sosnovska (studio name - Iryna Sosnovska Photography).
I photograph people and dogs and create meaningful artwork for my clients. I don’t do events (not anymore) so my specialty is 100% in portraiture - families, babies and kids, women, couples, branding and dogs.
I live and work in NYC with my husband, who is now back at the grad school, our teenage daughter and a pup.
A little back story…
In 2012 I moved from Eastern Europe to New York City with my husband, a bit of savings and a whole lot of dreams. Just as I had heard it happens in places like NYC, just within one year our lives went upside-down and eventually crashed. We lost 95% of our savings, none of us had jobs and on top of that 11 months after moving and settling in I became a mom. We went from dreaming to scrambling by. New city, no jobs, no family near us, savings evaporating and the new baby to take care of. As they say, when you fall to the point zero the only way is up. I knew I had to make my business work. And, in my case, I didn’t have any plan B to fall back on.
I didn’t have a business degree, I never in my life ran a business (I was a freelance photographer for local publications in Ukraine) and…I had no idea what a market like New York wanted and needed. I was lost, desperate, vulnerable and chronically tired.
The only thing I had loud and clear - I had to make it work. I had to make money to make sure me and my family survive.
Of course at first I looked around at what everyone one was doing and the only thing I could find through my nightly Google searching was photo sessions, including a set of files, ranging from $200 (in NYC!) or free to ….$1500! I thought to myself “one day when I get really good I’ll charge that!”. I was hungry for insights from photographers, I went all into learning mode - I had to know how to make my business work! In the meantime I was charging $100 or sometimes $50 for sessions to make something.
I consider myself lucky, because through one of the little workshops I took I met someone who recommended me a mentor who literally changed everything for me. Within less than a year I had sales of $4k to $6k per client - shooting at clients’ homes or a local park and selling just a handful of portraits. Things were happening before I was mentally prepared for them. And a few years later I opened my own studio location in the Midtown Manhattan. Not just “a“ studio - my DREAM studio.
During some of the hardest times as I was trying to figure it out, I made a quiet promise to myself - once I make it work, once I figure it out - I WILL help someone like me back then.
